Omega-3s are key nutrients across a person’s life, but the amount you need does depend on how old you are, among other factors. Children, for example, typically do not need as much omega-3 as grown adults. Generally, omega-3 supplements are safe for children aged 3 and up. Some health organizations recommend that kids have 250 mg to 500 mg of combined DHA and EPA daily.

Older children typically need to consume more omega-3s to support proper nutrition and growth. Each Chewie contains 400 mg of total omega-3s, with 300 mg DHA, 60 mg EPA, and 40 mg other omega-3s.

For children aged 7 to 12 years old, 600 mg of DHA omega-3 daily may be enough to meet their nutritional needs. Try two kids’ omega-3 gummies daily for children in this age range.

Are these omega-3 chewies safe for toddlers?

While my 3 yr old refused these gummies, my 1 yr old has loved them. Now - I didn’t speak with my pediatrician. I did make sure to cut up the disk into small pieces so it was easier to digest. Whenever we pull these out, my now 1.5 yr old runs over and opens his mouth like a baby bird. We call them his “yummy gummies”. My daughter hit her milestones and talked pretty well for her age, but my son is not even 2 and already has 2-3 word sentences - sometimes even 4! “We go outside.” “Where mommy go?” “I see cat-cat!” Solves day to day problems on his own. He’s constantly finding solutions so that he doesn’t have to come ask for help. Like I said - his sister has always been very bright and hit all her milestones, but she was not doing as well with talking and problem solving at this age. And while all babies are different - I really do think these omega 3 gummies have helped my son grow brighter. I only wish they weren’t so expensive!
